D.A.V. Public School Kusunda, Dhanbad is one of the oldest schools of Dhanbad. This school was established in the year 1982 under the control and guidance of D.A.V. College Managing Committee, New Delhi in collaboration with Bharat Cocking Coal Limited, Koyla Nagar Dhanbad. It is situated by the side of N.H. -32 at Godhar More 5 KM away from Dhanbad Railway Station on the way of Bokaro. The school has been providing quality education to the children of the area ceaselessly.

This is an English Medium Co-educational Public School affiliated to C.B.S.E. Delhi up to +2 level in Science and Commerce streams. The institution at present takes up to the responsibility of 2600 students having 55 sections from LKG to Std. XII with a band of 70 qualified and devoted teachers. The school is placed on 5.05 acres of land with a big building equipped with three science lab, a Library, Audio-Visual Room, a Computer Lab and all other Modern amenities. Assembly and Moral Education :
To inculcate moral values in the student, the school starts each working day with the morning assembly, that includes recitation of veda-mantra, Devotional songs, patriotic songs and thought for the day. Stress is laid on the universal aspects and eternal values of traditional Indian culture. Short speeches are given by the students are read out daily. Every morning the assembly disperses with the singing of the National Anthem.

Hawan is performed on every Saturday. Dharma-Shiksha books are prescribed to educate the students the moral values Vedic initiation camps are held twice a year.
